We are the Michigan associates of OREPA, Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance.
The Stop the Bombs Campaign is a series of anti-nuclear weapons events sponsored by the (OREPA) Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance. We primarily focus on the Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Plant in Oak Ridge, TN. We oppose the plans for a $7.5 Billion new Uranium Processing Facility planned for Y-12.
As a campaign we work closely with several other organizations in Michigan, primarily through the Detroit Area Peace with Justice Network. Within the Network those the main organizations we work with are Pax Christi Michigan, Peace Action of Michigan and Michigan Peace Team.

Michigan Stop The Nuclear Bombs Campaign (MISTNBC) had a contingent at OREPA's August events-- Sunday, August 5th, for the weekly vigil and also the Remembrance Ceremony the next day.
We joined people, from all over the country, to commemorate all the deaths from the atomic bomb, which destroyed Hiroshima, Japan 67 years ago. It is especially powerful to be reading the actual names of those killed in the historically destructive blast, firestorms and radiation, plus some of the many U.S. workers who have died as a result of building these weapons of mass destruction.
We've had 313 individuals in vehicles from MI attend OREPA Actions over the last 12 years. As several people have made more than one trip, that's at least 578 trips (that I have a record of, as co-founder and co-coordinator of MISTNBC). The numbers grew especially after Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, of Pax Christi, made his "call to action" in 2002, for us in Michigan to join OREPA's "Stop The Bombs Campaign."
